Performing Melancholia is a live musical research performance, an on-going project that bounces off the energies of Kenneth Alewine’ research on melancholia and the depressions as a doctoral candidate in a humanities program at a medical school.
Performing Melancholia is a creative experiment that merges the arts with the sciences in an attempt to understand major depression as a musical phenomenon.

Kenneth performs original electronic music and multimedia synthesis to explore the treatment-resistant depressions and the effect musical tools might have on mood as an intervention, since drugs and talk therapies are often not effective for those who suffer serious mental conditions.
