#MTFLabs New Formats

#MTFLabs New Formats

We are a community with a festival, not a festival with a community. We include artists, designers, creative developers, thinkers and inventors. We are into music, theatre, film, gaming, art, science, culture and society. The first Music Tech Fest gathered 70 creative minds working on ideas of Synaesthesia - turning colour into sound - guided by Peter Kirn. Since then we have run creative challenges which included Russolo’s The Art of Noises and Degrees of Sound Separation: people being removed from controllers; sound being removed from the source; reversals of controlled and controller.

We are now turning our minds to New Formats – for everything.

#MTFScandi was held at Sliperiet in the centre of the Umeå Arts Campus, a thriving community of artists and makers and a source of creative inspiration for the festival. Here is a selection of student projects that are developing new interactive technologies for the future.
