Max Baraitser Smith works with ancient technologies and self-built musical instruments. He is interested in how these devices embody abstract concepts, e.g. about time, gravity, synchronicity, momentum, falling, bouncing or rolling. The hands-on instrument building process, triggers new perspectives on the most familiar and fundamental phenomena and encourages us to re-think what we thought we knew. Max graduated at the ArtScience Interfaculty in the Hague and now works at CLB Berlin with a focus on urbanism, data, and listening practices.
