My name is Kicki Fagerlund and I’m a Swedish musician, artist, tech lover, digital strategist and entrepreneur. It’s hard for me to pick one hat so I’ll go for all at once. I live in Piteå, a small town in the north of Sweden. Where the sun is almost never up in the winters and it never sets in the summer. This region, called Swedish Lapland, is the land of northern light and midnight sun.
When I create music I call myself Brita Kristina - the Queen of the north. I make 80’s inspired synth pop with inspiration from early Madonna and retro wave artists like Mitch Murder and FM84. Those of you who have seen the epic action movie “Kung Fury” and heard the brilliant soundtrack know what I mean in terms of musical references.
I’ve recently released a tribute single and video to the Netflix TV-show GLOW. Just because I simply love the theme of starting a female wrestling team and I actually consider doing it myself so I’ll stop trying to wrestle down my partner all the time… (he’s afraid of me and hates it when I get started!). Next big thing for Brita Kristina is a gig at the Global 12 festival in London, September 1st.
Besides being an artist, I’m studying to become a digital strategist and I operate a tech start-up. But my most important task in life is to be a mother to my son Elliot (15 months). He is totally crazy and wonderful, just like his mother…
I’m going to participate in the Creative Labs at MTF. I have no clue what to expect, but I’m really looking forward to it! I’m excited to be able to meet people from different professions and places in the world and just see what happens when we start creating together.
I’m a big fan of Imogen Heap and it’s an honour to be a part of the same event as her. And of course Robyn is one of my favourite artists and inspirations since I was a kid… I look forward to be a part of the whole thing and just hanging out with so many cool persons.
See you guys in MTF Stockholm!
