Completed the PhD in Sciences and Environmental Engineering in 2015 by the University of Aveiro. She has dedicated the last 13 years into the study of post-fire hydrological and erosive impacts by means of field experiments and hydrological modelling. Her research also focuses on the implementation of mitigation measures to prevent additional hydrological impacts.
Currently she is the PI of a national project on post-fire soil erosion risk, the FEMME project, and supervises a team of 2 post-docs and 2 PhD students all dedicated to the post-fire soil erosion modelling.
She is also a feminist and created the UA-Woman initiative.
