We’re thrilled to announce that the incredible Dutch Fashion Tech designer Anouk Wipprecht will join MTF Stockholm in September. Music Tech Fest is championing women in tech and features inspiring ‘arts-meet-science’ women at the forefront of all the different areas of the festival.
Anouk creates designs ahead of her time; combining the latest in science and technology to make fashion an experience that transcends mere appearances. Her garments facilitate and augment the interactions we have with ourselves and our surroundings. Her Spider Dress is a perfect example of this aesthetic: with sensors detecting close proximity and the moveable arms on the dress moving swiftly into a fierce ‘attack’ position, creating a boundary of personal space.
In partnership with companies such as Intel, AutoDesk, Google, Arduino, Microsoft, Samsung, Adobe, Adidas, Cirque Du Soleil, Audi, Disney, Swarovski, and 3D printing company Shapeways, Anouk researches how our future would look as we continue to embed technology into what we wear, and more importantly – how this will change our perspective on how we will interface with technology.
Her work has been exhibited internationally at Fashion Week events, in global tech and arts conventions, featured in WIRED, Vogue and Elle as well as on CNN, Discovery Channel, Red Bull TV and NFL. She’s also curated successful fashiontech exhibitions across Europe and is part of the TED family.
Anouk will lead Fashion Tech as part of the invitation-only #MTFLabs: Robotics and AI in the KTH Reactor Hall, a decommissioned experimental site 25 meters below ground where Sweden conducted its first nuclear reaction. From the 3rd of September, the week-long labs will bring together a diverse selection of innovators, artists and technologists from the MTF community to create with cutting-edge technologies and data sets from across all industry sectors. The results will be showcased in a series of unique performances during the public festival weekend September 7th-9th.
We’re really excited to see what this group of brilliant MTF innovators will create under Anouk’s creative direction at MTFLabs in Stockholm… and so pleased to have Anouk join us as part of MTF Stockholm at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
