One of the things that’s most important to us at Music Tech Fest is the idea that music is for everyone. Not just to listen to, but to make. Removing barriers to participation is one of the great applications of music technologies.
Just out, this illuminating and inspiring video from the British Council features three Accessible Music Tech projects which Music Tech Fest had the pleasure to showcase and support:
- Hi-Note, created by Vahakn Matossian of Human Instruments with Pere Calopa Piedra, and performed here by Clarence Adoo, was one of our #MusicBricks projects.
- Kris Halpin performed with the MiMu gloves at #MTFBerlin (and we were lucky enough to have the brilliant Kelly Snook ‘on hand’ to help out too);
- Gawain Hewitt from Drake Music presented John Kelly’s Kellycaster as well as some of their other brilliant projects at #MTFBerlin;
Music is not simply entertainment. It has important social, cultural and political dimensions, and those are written right into the technologies we create. Take a few minutes and watch the video. You’ll see what we mean.
