I come from a computer science background and started writing Android apps around 2012. My journey into app development started with a chart viewer proof of concept for a music startup (Musicmetric, now defunct). Since then I’ve written and collaborated on several apps within the news industry and currently, fashion.
I DJ and produce music under the alias “DJ Dibs” and my musical tastes consist of a wide range of Afrobeats, Hip Hop, R&B, Future beats & Afro House. My production setup of choice is Ableton and its accompanying controller, The Ableton Push 2. My performance credits include Goldsnap DJs, ASOS, HBO, Afropunk & Lovebox as well as venues across London such as KOKO, Ministry of Sound & The Institute of Contemporary Arts.
Over the years I’ve learnt that dj’ing, music production and coding have a lot of similarities. I’m currently presenting my first interactive talk Demystify Djing and music production; a Coders perspective at meetups in London to spark a conversation about this.
I’ll be taking part in the Creative Labs at MTF Stockholm and can’t wait to meet all of you in September 🙂
